Growing Out On A Limb

Last weekend, Emery went with his Beavers group to BayJam, an annual two-night camping trip for all beavers, cubs, and scouts in the area on Sherbrooke Lake.  That sounds like a lot of boys to me!  I wish I could have been a fly on the wall for so many parts of that trip (but glad I was not the cleaner of the bathrooms)!

I get the feeling the weekend was packed full of fun activities, based on the stories Emery told me and how tired he was when they got home (almost as tired as hubby).

Here they are launching bottle rockets.

The zip line was by far the most talked about adventure of the weekend.  Hubby says he walked the whole way there saying he was not sure he was going to try it, but when it came down to it he saw all the other kids doing it (especially his best buddy luke) and tried it.  He did it seven times after that!  IMG_20160611_111929

He feels so proud of himself when he overcomes those jitters – you can almost see the pride filling him up.  IMG_20160611_111149

Emery and Luke are checking out Sherbrooke lake.  IMG_20160611_120208Each group was responsible for a skit or song during the saturday night campfire.  Emery had a few stories about this too.  IMG_20160611_201554

His smiling face tells it all.  This camping trip seems like the perfect top off to a really fun season in beavers.  I think it has been so good for emery’s confidence with his peers – I’ve really seen him grow this past year and come into his own and beavers is a big part of that. Next year will be just as fun!  IMG_20160611_213729

Phone Dump

I just discovered so many miscellaneous photos on my phone – from back in April! They’re all memories too good not to save here for later so this is me playing catch up.

I’m not sure why but this day at costco, the boys were all about getting their pictures taken.

The big chair…

… the patio furniture…

… the porch swing… IMG_20160423_110617

… and the depends.  Obviously they don’t know what they are, but it certainly made me laugh when they insisted on getting their pictures taken with the depends!  (Like wouldn’t get out of there until I snapped the pic!)IMG_20160423_110309

On mother’s day we went to the family skate.  Eleanor doesn’t always participate but she did this day and was super cute in her helmet.  She does pretty well on her skates for a two year old!

IMG_20160508_155228 Several weeks ago, in a brief pocket of warmth, we took a quick walk to flat lake while one of emery’s buddies was visiting.  They threw sticks and I took pics.

These are a few pics from marathon weekend, in between the races.  I’m not sure we sat on the deck before that or have since because it’s been so cold and damp, but we sure enjoyed it that weekend.

Mom and I went to one of those guided paint nights and had a blast!  IMG_20160521_203657 A couple of weeks ago the boys went to a birthday party at the indoor trampoline park.  I didn’t jump but it looked like so much fun that I might join in next time.  It’s a little pricey but what a great way to burn off some energy on a rainy or snowy afternoon.    IMG_20160528_102719 I kind of love that the boys became streaks in some of these pics.  IMG_20160528_112327

There’s jumping boys in there somewhere!  IMG_20160528_114012

IMG_20160528_114327There you have it.  Lesson learned – dump the phone more often!

June 2016 NB Visit

These are a few pics from a trip Eleanor and I took to NB last week.  I had to visit the office and she came with me to hang out with nana and papa.  (It’s a bonus for me that they are retired and can watch her… and a bonus for them).

We took a little walk on the Florenceville boardwalk before church on Sunday.

And we had a fun BBQ with family that afternoon.  I didn’t realize Eleanor had so much soccer mojo!IMG_20160605_164328

Eleanor and Gabby played so well together!  There is a difference in their ages but they had no problem finding common ground… IMG_20160605_164847

… even if it involved balancing on balls.  IMG_20160605_170401

After-bath lego.  Counting me, there are four generations in this pic!  IMG_20160609_184432

It was a long week of work events, driving, restless sleep, with just the right amount of family and fun.  Okay, maybe I could have used a little more family and fun, but we’ll work on that for next time.
