Growing Out On A Limb

Emery’s First Skate

While Oliver, Eleanor, and I enjoyed the sun and snow, hubby took Emery for his first skate.  Sometimes I feel so very un-canadian because our boys, at 4 and almost 6, have barely been on skates.  We tried a couple of times when Oliver was little and it didn’t go well – heels dug in, crying, not wanting to try, that sort of thing.

So I guess we were gun-shy about skating in general.  But Emery is different… easy going, eager to try things (especially when he has heard his school friends talk about hockey), not easily frustrated… so I figured it would be a whole different experience with him.  And it was.  He definitely did well for his first time.

Look at him go!

He makes me so proud.  And the next day, as hubby was driving him to school, he said, “Daddy… when can I play hockey?”.  We may have created a monster.  An extremely cute and very canadian monster.
