It might just be an inch or so, but we take advantage of the snow when we can. And we had a beautiful, mild sunny break in between cold snaps, which made it even easier to get outside and enjoy winter!
Hubby and the boys found this trail very near our house a few weeks ago, a wheeler trail that runs along the back of our subdivision. This was my first time on it and it was beautiful: sun shining, trees draped with snow, and the good company of Oliver and Eleanor (while daddy took Emery skating for the first time!).
Eleanor had the best seat in the house and was happy to be there (at first). Oliver liked knocking the snow off the branches. When he found a rock in the path, he called it a “power up” and threw it at the trees to knock the snow off. Can you spot the wildlife hiding in the trees? After a half hour or so of walking, we came to Land of Laziness lake. Frozen solid. The boys like to run and slide on the ice.
It’s beautiful. Eleanor started fussing just before we got to the lake and didn’t stop so we didn’t spend much time there. We packed her up and headed back up the long, long, long, long hill. Eleanor cried the whole way back and there was no end of complaining from Oliver as we trudged up the hill. It didn’t matter… I left that walk feeling great from the fresh air and quality time with the kids.
And then there was this. The cherry on top!
(This was ice cream on nana and papa, who sent us a lovely thank you note in the mail, along with money to go get the ice cream we didn’t get a chance to get while they were visiting. Thanks, nana and papa!)
