Though there are many difficult things about moving away from home and family, being near to the beach is a definite check in the ‘pro’ column.
On Sunday afternoon, another warm sunny day, we took a drive to Crystal Crescent beach in Sambro. After one wrong turn, fourteen “How much further”s, and no fewer than thirty two “Are we there yet”s, we arrived.
The boys love running from the waves and eventually get soaked up to the neck. The water was frigid (I don’t know how they get this far in) but it was definitely warmer than Queensland beach has been because there wasn’t much wind.
I tried to keep Eleanor on the blanket for about five minutes and then figured it would be more fun for her and me to just let her go. Besides, blanket or no blanket, she would end up full of sand anyway. Sand is like that.
The waves are definitely bigger at this beach. Emery said the waves wouldn’t catch him if he threw handfuls of wet sand at them.
No complaints from this sweet, scrunchy face! I’m sure she ended up eating a little bit of sand but at least she wasn’t putting fistfuls in her mouth.
After soaking up the sun for a couple of hours, we headed to the waterfront for a slice of pizza. I think this waterfront is on my list of favorite places. And I think it’s pretty fun that I get to share it with these handsome boys!
