Yesterday at public skate we had a special visitor … Santa!
We’ve never bothered with the on-Santa’s-lap thing – I guess we figured there wasn’t much point until Santa actually meant something to him and, given Oliver’s personality, we figured it would end in a crying, uncooperative mess anyway. Last year we talked a bit about Santa but he just glossed over it without much interest.
This year he is really getting it though and loving the whole thing – this is his first magic Christmas. He points out Santa wherever we go and talks about him coming with presents (and is quick to correct us: “No, the little guys make the presents!”), so he was really excited to see him skating. He wanted to show Santa his new skates.
… is the face he had the whole time we were talking to him and he didn’t mutter a sound. But that’s okay because Santa thought his skates were shiny and now knows he wants a yellow loader for Christmas.
And Oliver has talked about it since so, despite the silence, he was pretty smitten.
What a cool way to meet Santa!
